Is This Witchcraft?

This has happened to me quite a few times.

I’ll be at an event or an art show. Someone wanders over, drawn in by the paintings. They linger. They flip through the oracle cards slowly, almost reverently. I can see it in their body... curiosity, recognition, something soft opening.

And then it happens.

They pause.

Their eyes widen.

And they ask, quietly but urgently:

“Oh wait… is this like tarot cards? Is this witchcraft?”

Sometimes they laugh nervously.

Sometimes they whisper it like it’s a confession.

Sometimes they literally back away like they’ve just touched something forbidden.

And every time, I smile because what’s happening in that moment is actually kind of beautiful.

That initial pull?

That curiosity?

That feeling of something here is speaking to me?

That’s not something to fear.

That’s intuition.

So… is it witchcraft?

The short answer is: it depends on what you think witchcraft is.

If you’ve been taught that witchcraft is dark, dangerous, or something to be afraid of, I understand the hesitation. A lot of us grew up with stories that framed intuition, spiritual curiosity, or inner knowing as suspicious or wrong.

But historically, and practically, witchcraft has never been about evil spells or manipulation.

At its core, witchcraft is about:

  • Paying attention to nature

  • Listening to cycles and rhythms

  • Honoring intuition

  • Working with intention

  • Trusting inner guidance

In other words, it’s about awareness.

Long before it was misunderstood or feared, these practices were simply how people made sense of the world. Especially women. Especially healers. Especially those who listened inward instead of outsourcing their power.

What my work is actually about

My work isn’t about predicting the future.

It’s not about summoning anything.

And it’s definitely not about giving your power away.

It’s about helping you come back to yourself.

The art, the oracle deck, the practices — they’re mirrors. They reflect what you already know but might not be giving yourself permission to hear.

When someone feels drawn to the deck and then suddenly questions it, I often think: Your Higher Self showed up before your fear did.

And that’s okay.

Curiosity doesn’t mean you have to abandon your beliefs. It doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It just means something inside you is asking to be explored.

Intuition isn’t scary — it’s human

You don’t need to identify as spiritual, witchy, or anything at all to work with intuition.

You already do it when:

  • You get a gut feeling about a situation

  • You know when something is off without evidence

  • You feel drawn toward a choice that makes no logical sense but feels right

That’s intuition.

That’s inner guidance.

That’s your Higher Self communicating in a language older than fear.

Oracle cards, art, rituals — they’re just tools. They slow you down enough to listen.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

You get to choose how you engage

You don’t have to label this work.

You don’t have to understand everything.

You don’t have to go deeper than feels safe or aligned.

You’re allowed to be curious.

You’re allowed to take what resonates.

You’re allowed to walk away from what doesn’t.

But if something keeps pulling at you — gently, quietly — it might be worth asking why.

Not because it’s witchcraft.

But because it’s wisdom.

And wisdom has a way of finding us when we’re ready.
