A Simple Daily Practice to Build Trust With Your Inner Voice

You don’t need a complicated ritual or a perfect morning routine to connect with your intuition.

You don’t need candles, crystals, or silence before the world wakes up.

What you need is a few intentional moments where you slow down enough to listen.

Here’s a simple practice I return to again and again — especially on mornings when I want to feel grounded, aligned, and connected to myself before the day starts pulling at me.

Start where you already are

One of my favorite moments to check in with myself is while brushing my teeth.

It sounds almost too simple, but that’s the point.

While brushing, I’ll ask out loud (or quietly, if someone else is around):

“What does the universe want me to keep in mind today as I move through my day with joy and alignment?”

Then I don’t rush to answer it mentally. I just let the question exist.

Afterward, I’ll pull a single oracle card and see what comes up.

Sometimes the message is clear. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it just plants a seed. But over time, I’ve learned to trust that whatever shows up is exactly what I need to hold that day.

Set the tone with sound

Music is another way I like to shift my energy in the morning.

I have a carefully curated playlist that I return to often — full of encouraging, uplifting songs that help me feel grateful, powerful, and connected. Many of the songs are in Spanish, which grounds me in my body and my roots in a way words alone can’t.

You can listen to my playlist here if you’d like, or create your own.

The goal isn’t productivity.

It’s presence.

Choose music that reminds you who you are before the world starts telling you who to be.

Drink your intention

Before I officially begin my day, I usually make myself a cup of tea.

As I stir it, I’ll quietly whisper into the mug whatever goodness came through from my oracle card — or simply an intention I want to work with. Peace. Confidence. Joy. Patience. Trust.

It might sound small, but there’s something powerful about speaking your intention and then literally consuming it. Letting it move through your body. Letting it be felt, not just thought.

This isn’t about superstition.

It’s about embodiment.

Why this works

None of these steps are about doing things “right.”

They work because they help you:

  • Slow down

  • Ask better questions

  • Listen instead of rush

  • Build a relationship with your inner voice

Over time, trust grows — not because you force it, but because you practice listening.

You don’t need to do all of this every day.

You don’t need to be consistent to the point of rigidity.

Pick one piece. Try it for a few days. Notice how it feels.

Your intuition doesn’t need perfection.

It needs permission.

And sometimes, all that takes is a toothbrush, a song, and a warm mug in your hands.
