GENEROSITY: The Magic of Cafecito

Some of the most meaningful moments in life happen over something very simple.
A cup of coffee.
A conversation.
A moment where someone feels truly seen.
That’s the spirit behind Generosity.
At the center of this piece is a traditional stovetop cafetera, the kind many of us grew up seeing in Dominican kitchens. Beside it sit two small espresso mugs, ready to be shared. A spoon rests nearby, and a butterfly lands gently on top.
To me, this painting is about the everyday magic of connection.
In Caribbean culture, offering someone cafecito isn’t just about coffee. It’s an invitation. A way of saying come sit with me for a moment. It’s how stories are shared, laughter happens, and friendships deepen.
Generosity doesn’t always look like big gestures.
Sometimes it looks like making time for someone. Listening fully. Sharing what you have, even if it’s small.
The butterfly in the piece carries another layer of meaning. In many traditions, butterflies are seen as spiritual messengers — reminders that loved ones and unseen guides are always close. Their presence brings a sense of hope, transformation, and quiet blessing.
When I later created La Caribeña Oracle Deck, this painting naturally became the GENEROSITY card. A reminder that kindness, presence, and companionship create ripples that travel far beyond the moment they begin.
Because the truth is, generosity is contagious.
A single act of kindness can warm a room, soften a heart, and open the door for more connection in the world.
Sometimes it all begins with something as simple as a cup of coffee.
Curious if this piece is still available?
Visit the shop to see if the original painting has found its home. And if it has, you can still collect the artwork through the La Caribeña Oracle Deck, where all the paintings live together in one magical package.
