About JoAnn

JoAnn is a creative soul with an insatiable curiosity for learning and exploring.  She is self-taught, but her lifelong pursuit for learning has participated in multiple workshops and classes in both the visual and performing arts.  She received her BA in theater performance from Rhode Island College.  She has taught, directed, produced, and given talks in multiple venues.  Her art is an eclectic mix of color, mediums and textures.

Her lifelong passion is to inspire and encourage everyone to develop their own unique talents. She strives to create a space where people can explore, discover and develop their own personal creativity in a supportive environment.  Her goal is to help break the conditioned inner critic of comparison and suppression of one's unique expression.  Some of the classes she has taught include, but not limited to are art journaling, wreath making, needle arts, painting, mixed media, holiday decor and acting.

Currently she is exploring mixed media, fabric collage and altered books.  She most recently won "Best use of materials" for her fabric collage at the Rose Arts Festival.  Previously, she won first place in 2023 for her mixed media "Dragonfly" and second place for her "Peacock" floral arrangement in 2022 in the same festival.  You can find her selling her artwork in various craft shows throughout the tri-state area in craft show, stores and gallery showings.
